SK Nigam, Founder
Savyasachi Krishnan Nigam is the visionary founder of Indiroots, driven by a deep commitment to empowering the Indian diaspora in political participation. With a rich background in community development, Nigam has long believed in the power of informed voices. Having grown up within a vibrant Indian community, in the course of writing his book Electoral Jugaad, The INC and Global Desi, Nigam keenly understood the unique challenges faced by the Indian diaspora navigating two cultures, which sparked a lifelong passion to advocate for the rights and representation of the diaspora.
After earning a Master’s in Social Work with Graduation in Political Science, Nigam dedicated years to working with national and international NGOs and political parties focused on community outreach and policy reform, gaining invaluable insights into the political landscapes affecting both India and its diaspora. The motivation behind Indiroots stemmed from the realization that many in the diaspora feel disconnected from the political processes that impact their lives. Nigam is committed to changing that narrative by providing resources, training, and a platform where individuals can unite to amplify their voices.
In addition to his visionary leadership, Nigam brings extensive experience in analyzing diaspora policies. Nigam’s expertise lies in translating complex political concepts into actionable insights, believing that informed communities can drive positive change. Through workshops and written resources, he demystifies political processes, making them accessible to all. As a passionate community organizer, Nigam is dedicated to increasing political engagement among the diaspora. His grassroots organizing experience equips him with the unique ability to mobilize individuals and foster collaboration. By organizing events, workshops, and town hall meetings, he ensures that diverse groups within the community have platforms to express their views.
Nigam’s leadership style is characterized by empathy and inclusivity, fostering a team culture that prioritizes collaboration and shared goals. He believes that when individuals feel seen and heard, they are more likely to engage actively in political processes. Through his work at Indiroots, Nigam continues to inspire those around him to take an active role in shaping their futures, embodying the spirit of community and empowerment that defines the organization.
